I've officially eaten my words. I said that I would never have a blog...and here we are. I really have nothing against blogs or those, but I guess I just never really had any motivation in having one....until now. I started this blog to have a record of the journey I'm about to take. This journey has actually been going on for quite sometime. It's my journey that is getting to know the Savior...my Savior rather. Even though the theme of this blog will be centered around my upcoming journey to Nicaragua the real pursuit is following the Lord as he leads me through his Word and to live side by side with others helping them do the same.
This summer I will be traveling to Nicaragua for the 9th time...that is so crazy for me to think about. Looking back it really is beyond incredible to see how much the Lord has done and is doing in Nicaragua.
This trip will be different though, because I will be there for an extended amount of time... I will be spending approx. 7 weeks there. I will be going down with my church Bent Creek Baptist June 21st and returning August 8th with Emma's Grove Baptist.
During that time one major “focus” will be to invite 100+ women (young and older) to a women’s conference at the Mission Center that we, Vision Nicaragua have in country and teach the workshop on How to Study Your Bible. I’ll be raising support for my trip this summer and I’m going to include in that support effort enough to buy Bibles so that every lady that comes to the workshop will have their own personal Bible in their language.
We will also be involved with the following activities: gift bag and food distribution, city-dump feeding program, VBS, and working at a local special needs school.
The remainder of my summer will be spent working alongside other Vision Nicaragua teams that will also be coming down to serve the precious people of Nicaragua. This will add another dimension to my current position with VN as our Trip & Travel Coordinator. I’ll also be continuing a small group Bible Study with the girls in Bethel throughout the summer. I cannot tell you how excited I am to be able to pour into their lives, live side by side with them and open God’s Word together.
Thus the reasoning behind this blog. While in Nicaragua I will be updating this blog frequently so that you all will be a part of my journey. God is so good and I'm so excited to see what he's going to teach me. I'm praying that I truly walk away from this summer even more in love with Christ and so in tune with his Holy Spirit. I long to be "that girl" that when you are around me you see Christ in me...in my words, my actions, and my example. Let the construction begin!
Stay tuned : )
